1. 1tsp oil
2. 1/2tsp Mustard seeds
3. 1/2tsp cumin seeds
4. 2red chillies
5. 4 garlic cloves
6. 1/4asafoetida
7. 5 tomatoes
8. 1/2 turmeric
9. Salt to taste
10.1/2cup tamarind juice
11.2tsp homemade madurai rasam powder
12.2 1/2 to 3 cup water

1. In a pan, add 1 tbsp of oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, cumin seeds, 2 red chillies, 4 crushed garlic cloves, hing, and curry leaves. Mix them.
2. To this, add 5 roughly chopped tomatoes, 1⁄2 tsp turmeric powder, and salt. Cook them until the mixture turns mushy.
3. After that, add 1⁄2 cup of tamarind juice and cook for 5 minutes until the raw smell goes away. Then, add 2 tbsp of Pillai’s Homemade Madurai Rasam Powder, 2 1⁄2 – 3 cups of water, and leave it for 5 minutes.
4. Once the mixture starts to boil, turn off the flame immediately. [Note: Rasam should not over boil.] 5. Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves on top of it. Madurai-style rasam is ready.
