Foxtail Millet Khichdi

Ingredients

Foxtail Millet Upma
1.1 cup foxtail millet / thinai (parboiled)
2.1 small onion, finely chopped
3.1 green chili, finely chopped
4.1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
6.1/2 tsp mustard seeds
7.1/2 tsp urad dal
8.1/2 tsp chana dal
9.1 sprig curry leaves
10.2 tbsp oil
11.3 cups water
12.Salt to taste
Foxtail Millet pongal 1.1 cup of foxtail millet /thinai 2. 1/2 cup moong dal
3.6tsp Ghee 3.Add cumin and pepper 4. Ginger 5.20 Cashews

Cooking Instruction

1.Wash and Soak a cup of Pillai’s unpolished & raw Foxtail millet along with ½ cup of moong dal for 30 minutes.
2. Pressure-cook the soaked millet and dal in 2.5 litres of water with the required salt. Wait for three whistles. 3.In a pan, add 6 tsp of ghee, a tablespoon of whole pepper, cumin seeds, chopped ginger, 20 cashews, and curry leaves. 4.Add this tempering to the cooked millet and dal mixture. A healthy and tasty millet pongal is ready.
